Recently Garmin has been going around “updating” its product line with Fenix 5 series lookalikes. The recent Quatix 5 is almost a splitting image of the Fenix 5 right down to the functions. This week, the new Garmin Approach S60 ($399.99) golf focused watch is the latest wearable from Garmin to be Fenix-ed.
If you compare the Garmin Approach S60 to its predecessors, you’d have noticed it’s about the only device that looks good both on and off the green. Couple that with Garmin’s QuickFit watch straps and changeable watch faces and it’d look like you have a new watch for every occasion!
Access green view right on the S60’s touch enabled display, get precise distances to each point on the golf course, and pair your Approach S60 with the Garmin TruSwing™ golf swing analyzer to get swing training, including swing speed and club path angles .
Garmin has even thrown in a dedicated Golf app that allows users to compete in weekly leadership score boards or pit their prowess with their friends on any golf course via a tournament invite. Players can further chat with each other and post their results for others to see.
On top of golf features, the Garmin Approach S60 is also a capable all day activity tracker plus GPS sports watch that will easily record your runs, biking, pool swimming and more.
The only drawback is the lack of wrist based heart rate measurements which was actually present in the Approach X40. Nevertheless, that can be easily rectified with a compatible chest strap heart rate monitor.
