MATRIX PowerWatch needs no Charging Ever – News | GadFit

December 6, 2016

MATRIX PowerWatch claims to be the world’s first smartwatch that you never have to charge. The watch is powered by body heat and functions as an all day activity tracking; recording your calories burned, activity level, and sleep using advanced thermoelectric technology.

According to Matrix Industries, the company behind the MATRIX PowerWatch, the thermoelectric technology powering the watch has been used by NASA to power the Voyager spacecraft and Curiosity. matrix powerwatch feature-2

The watch will also have a power meter indicator on screen which shows how much electricity the body is producing; an indication of the calories burned. matrix powerwatch -smartwatch-pressMatrix Industries will also be building micro applications such as timer and stopwatch functions so that the MATRIX PowerWatch can do more than just tell time. Press videos seem to suggest, without committing, that the watch can also play music or control music playback.matrix powerwatch mobile appMATRIX PowerWatch’s Indiegogo campaign also hinted at the possibility of sharing tracked stats with friends and setting up of competitions. Again, there’s very little details on this other than mentions on the company’s website and campaign write up.

At present, there’s already a working prototype and funding this project (with another month to go) will net you a unit due October 2017. The recommended retail price is $169.99.matrix powerwatch feature 3Interestingly the MATRIX PowerWatch doesn’t have smart notifications nor 3rd party mobile apps to properly qualify as a smart watch; I’d rather call it a toned down Fitbit Blaze sans charging and heart rate sensors.
