With the arrival of the Misfit Speedo Shine 2 last month, the option to upgrade the Misfit Shine 2 and Ray activity trackers with industry-leading Speedo swim tracking technology was concurrently announced. Not much was known about this upgrade and my query to Misfit Support returned blanks. Well, just yesterday, the Misfit Ray swim upgrade was confirmed and made available. At the low price of just $10, this upgrade basically augments your Shine 2 and Ray trackers with swim lap and distance tracking capabilities. More details on how to initiate the Misfit Ray swim upgrade can be found here.
The upgrade is worth it considering the price. The Misfit Shine 2 swimmer’s edition goes for $119.99. The Misfit Ray or Shine 2 both retail for $99.99. Even when you take into account the $10 swim features upgrade, it’s still $10 shy what the Misfit 2 swimmer’s edition goes for.
Besides swim lap and distance tracking, the Shine 2 or Ray tracker will receive a workout timer that counts down your workout time, delivering a vibration alert when you’ve hit your set time goal.
Personally I prefer the Misfit Ray tracker over the Shine series simply due to its unobtrusiveness. Misfit Wearables also released an entire collection of accessories just for the Ray trackers; making it easy, albeit pricey, to style.
If you are on the market looking for a fitness tracker that doesn’t scream Fitness Buff, then the Misfit Ray is a decent candidate worth considering. Check out the review of the Misfit Ray here. And remember to get the swim upgrade boost.
