I’d bring a lacrosse ball whenever I travel so I can do some rolling on my lower limbs after running; my calf and tend to be too tight for my own good. And that’s because I can’t bring my full sized foam roller which is too bulky to carry around and took up too much space. So you can imagine my excitement when I first chanced upon the Neofit Roller.
Neofit Roller’s Kickstarter campaign commenced today and before I go on, I thought you should know the campaign met its target within 24 hours of launch. Impressive isn’t it?
The Neofit Roller collapses into a mere 4 inches that fit on the palm of your hands and extends to a full 12 inches worth of goodness for full body foam rolling.
The roller is lightweight yet the inner disc can withstand up to 136 kg (or 350 pounds) of load. I particularly like the fact that it stores easily into a bag in it’s minimised form of just 5.5 inches diameter by 4 inches height.
You’re probably thinking if there’s any science behind foam rolling since it only become more prevalent only the last few years. Time has a well written article on the benefits of foam rolling – or what is known as self myofascial release (SMR). Genuinely worth a read.
Neofit Roller features:
- Collapses to 4 inches (10cm) and expands to 12 inches (30cm)
- Weighs less than 2 pounds (800g)
- Designed to handle up to 350 pounds (136kg)
- High density interlocking EVA foam exterior
The founder Sep Kipman was inspired to create the Neofit Roller after working in pro sports with traveling athletes.
“While working in the professional sports industry, I used to spend around six months a year on the road without access to my foam roller, and watch as coaching staff had to lug around rollers for athletes,” Kipman said.
“After thousands of hours of research, development, testing and dozens of prototypes, we’ve come up with a revolutionary design so people can look after their bodies anywhere, anytime.”
The patent pending interlocking foam design allows even distribution of bodyweight, with the optimum elevation of the high density EVA foams hitting deep into your sore spots.
Personally, I’m very keen in this project but I’m just a tad concerned about the lengthy wait as delivery is slated for July 2018.
The Neofit Roller will eventually retail for $89 and is available in pink, green or teal. You can still net yourself a significantly discounted unit if you head over to Neofit Roller’s Kickstarter campaign page.
