Garmin has traditionally offered remote control functions for their own VIRB line of action cams right from their wearables. Now Polar’s V800 has just added a similar feature that allows V800 watches to function as GoPro actioncam remote control for the HERO4 model.
With this feature, owners of the Polar V800 can now capture pictures, start and stop video recording, tag HiLights in video mode by tapping the screen right from the watch.
Lifted directly from Polar.com, this is the planned timeline for the upcoming updates and Polar H10 and Polar M600 connectivity:
- Support for the GoPro HERO4 remote control on Polar V800. Implemented
- Support for Polar M600 and GoPro’s HERO5 line-up will come early this year.
- Polar H10 functionality for both GoPro HERO4 and HERO5 devices will be available during the first quarter of 2017.
While it isn’t groundbreaking, it does allow Polar to catch up with its competition by offering compatibility with GoPro actioncams. With the latter not doing too well itself.
