Suunto has been pretty aggressive this year, rolling out a total of 5 watches in the Spartan line already. There’s the Ultra, the Sport, the Sport Wrist HR, Trainer, and finally the Sport Wrist HR Baro. I read from Appelmoessite that there’s supposedly another device that’s in the works; a variant of the Spartan Trainer.
I’m unsure about you but it seems the better colour variations always comes out after the standard “safe” colours commence retail. Just look at the Suunto Spartan Wrist HR forest and white gold variants; absolutely gorgeous yet regretful for those who have already put their money down for other colours.
You might not know this but Suunto actually has a customiser service for their more popular lines.
For a small premium, you can design your own bespoke watch. Using the Spartan Ultra as an example, you can start from choosing the bezel colour and eventually customise your way through to the watch strap clip details; seeing your watch unfold before your eyes.
Your order would then be hand made in Finland and shipped to you with 2 years warranty.
The downside is that you can’t return it if you don’t like it as it’s customised for you. So this service is reserved for those who really want a Suunto watch to call their own.
At present, the customisable products include:
- Suunto Spartan Ultra
- Suunto Spartan Sport Wrist HR
- Suunto Traverse Alpha
- Suunto Traverse
- Suunto Ambit3 Vertical
- Suunto Ambit3 Sport
- Suunto Ambit3 Peak
Before you start you might want to check out the galleries where other people have had their go at designing their Suunto watches or pick from star favourites such as those designed by Kilian Jornet!
The Suunto Customiser service is available in the following countries: Austria, Canada(EN), Canada(FR), CzechRepublic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland (DE), Switzerland (FR), UK, and US.
